The Electionist is an award winning short film/comedy done by the students of Communications High School in Wall, New Jersey. It was created during the 2006 National Film Challenge.

[edit] Plot
At school it is time to vote for the next class president. Each one of the candiates have prepared videos which show what kind of person they are. Bobbie Soxer (Smith) is stressed about the whole thing and keeps thinking back to when his senator father (Indahl) has told him, which is a bunch of meaningless advice. Bobbie begins to stress more and more as his opponents present their videos. These fellow students include Hannelore, Gerard, Chet, Ryan, Albert AKA Posiedon Stormcross, and Erin.

- Chet- a student who has been held back many years and in doing so knows alot about the school

[edit] National Film Challenge
On Friday October 20, 2006 the writers got hold of their requirements for the short film. The contest was to use the requirements in a short film that must be completed in 48 hours. The requirements included:
- Genre- Comedy
- Line of Dialogue- "If it doesn't work, give it a shake"
- Character- Bobbie Soxer; a candidate
- Prop- Oil
The students came into school from early in the morning to late at night over the next few days to complete the film. On Sunday October 22, 2006 the final verson of the film was sent in to the 48 Hour National Film Challenge.
A few months later the film was awarded one of the Special Judges Award, which was "Best Tree Hugging Scene"
[edit] Garden State Film Festival
On March 24, 2006 the Electionist was shown at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park as apart of the New Jersey Garden State Film Festival.
It was announced a few days later that the Electionist had one the best High School Student-Short Film in the Home-Grown Award Category.
