A troubled teenage witch befriends Phoebe in hopes of joining the Halliwell coven. The teenager, Aviva, has actually been convinced by an evil sorceress named Kali to steal the Charmed Ones powers for herself.

Kali: An evil sorceress cursed into her own dimension, she appears in reflections and has the power to possess innocents, and uses them as pawns to steal a witch's power and turn them to evil. To get rid of her, shatter her reflection.

Actress Rebecca Balding, who appears as Aunt Jackie, later appears in the series as the long-term character Elise Rothman.
This is the first episode the cast filmed after having months off. The Charmed cast and crew were only told to film six episodes, so they did in the June/July 1998. Then they rejoined in late October 1998 to shoot more episodes after The WB renewed them for a full season order. That is the reason why a lot of the props on set were changed and more objects were added in this episode and why the actresses', more noticeably Alyssa Milano's, hair is longer.
In the season four premiere, it is revealed that there really is a fourth Charmed sister, half-witch/half-whitelighter Paige Matthews, daughter of Patty Halliwell and her whitelighter Sam Wilder. The character, played by Rose McGowan, reconstitues the Charmed Ones after Prue's untimely death in the Season 3 finale "All Hell Breaks Loose".
In the ending credits of the first season, we see there is an assistant to Charmed's creator, Constance Burge. The assistant's name is Aviva.
Kali is actually the Hindu Goddess of Destruction and Rebirth, not a demon.

The sister's address in this episode is 7571 Prescott Street when in all other episodes, it's 1329 Prescott Street.
