The Invasion (originally titled Invasion, then changed to The Visiting before being changed once more to The Invasion) is a 2007 film currently in post-production starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. It is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel. Filming took place in Washington, D.C., USA, during fall 2005, with some scenes also filmed in Baltimore. The film began as a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but deviated considerably from the original storyline and is now thought of as an original script.

[edit] Plot summary
The Invasion tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. When a Washington D.C. psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers the epidemic's origins are extraterrestrial, she must fight to protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping an imminent invasion.
[edit] Post-production re-shooting
After production wrapped in early 2006, extensive re-shooting began. According to the Hollywood website The Buzz, an on-set source revealed that a rough cut of the film was panned by test audiences, and "half the movie is being re-shot."[1] A representative for Warner Brothers studios confirmed some scenes are being filmed again but denied it was because the movie has been badly received. The spokesperson said: "They are doing mostly second-unit re-shoots now, and there has been no testing."[2] Additional re-shooting continued in Los Angeles into 2007, where a well-publicized accident occurred during a location shooting which sent Kidman and several others to the hospital.[3]

[edit] Trivia
- Veronica Cartwright co-starred in the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers directed by Philip Kaufman, as Nancy Bellicec. She also starred in the television series Invasion, based on the same movie, as Valerie Shenkman. Additionally, there are two characters who share the last name of Jeff Goldblum and Cartwright's characters from that film.
- In January 2007, Nicole Kidman and seven others were admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles after their car crashed into a lamp post during a reshoot when the stunt driver apparently went off course. All persons involved were submitted for checks and subsequently released soon thereafter.[4]
