The Kid Came Back is the 6th episode of the ABC and Disney Television Show Recess.
[edit] Synopsis
A strange child attaches himself to T.J. and his friends, following them around everywhere while clutching a peanut butter sandwich. The kids don't mind him at first, but after a little while, an odd streak of bad luck appears to be dogging them as much as the mysterious little boy. Deciding that the two events must be linked, the kids try their best to get their newfound friend to go away. However, the child is incredibly stubborn and seems to possess supernatural good luck, and returns safely to the Third Street playground after every attempt to get rid of him. When he finally does leave, the string of unfortunate events refuses to let up, and T.J. and the others wonder if they were right to blame it all on him.
[edit] Notes
The title (and possibly concept) of this episode is a reference to the song The Cat Came Back, which also concerns a stubbornly determined unlucky charm, this one a persistent feline. Unlike the cat, however, the child does eventually leave T.J.'s gang alone.
