Take off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) |
The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back!) is Blink-182's only live album released worldwide. Released in 2000, only a million copies of this album were made. For those fans who discovered the band after its release, the CD became sought after by many and renowned for its lack of availability. However, in July 2006 many copies appeared in shops like HMV. There has been no announcement regarding this as a 're-release' and many desperate fans have been pleasantly surprised to discover its return.
The album contains songs from three of the band's studio albums: Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, mainly focusing upon Enema tracks as they were currently touring that album release.
"Man Overboard" is a studio recording included on the album. The song was released as a single and is known to have been written at the same time as Enema of the State. The song is often under debate from fans about its subject matter - many claim that it's about the removal of former drummer Scott Raynor. In an interview in 2005, Mark Hoppus denied these rumours.
Following "Man Overboard", the album returns to a live environment with twenty-nine hidden tracks collectively known as Words of Wisdom. These document examples of Mark and Tom's stage banter towards one another. Their toilet humour jokes are something the band is renowned for and are perfectly captured here. Individually these tracks are not named, but when putting the disc into a CD-ROM drive, using a media player such as iTunes will bring up a tracklisting. While they may not be official they do accurately represent what is contained in each track and can allow listeners to choose tracks with ease.
Dick Lips from the album Dude Ranch is renamed as Rich Lips on the track-listing. "Blow Job" is also censored as Blew Job on the track listing.

[edit] Live Dispute
There is an ongoing dispute amongst Blink-182 fans that contrary to the live nature of this album, many of the songs were over-dubbed or enhanced with better-sounding vocals and instrument tracks.
One aspect of the album that may point to some portions being rerecorded are the fact that Tom Delonge's voice differs between certain tracks on the album, one variety being the voice he usually produces during live performances, which is noticably deeper than the other variety, a voice that resembles the voice he uses on the studio recordings of Blink-182 songs. However, it should also be noted that not all tracks on the album were recorded from the same concert.
It's also been noted that certain songs have unusually mistake-free guitar sections, such as the lead riff to "What's My Age Again?" as well as "doubling" of the guitar tracks on parts of almost every song to enhance the dynamics and fullness of sound. This can be distinguished as one guitar is panned to the left, the other to the right, and thus leading to suspicion of either another live (hidden) guitarist, or over-dubbing in the mix down process.

[edit] Miscellaneous
- At the end of "Aliens Exist", Mark adds the line "Tom has sex with guys," and during the song Tom replaces the line "I got an injection, of fear from the abduction. My best friend thinks I'm just telling lies" with "I got an injection, of love from the erection. My best friend thinks I'm just humping guys."
- During "What's My Age Again?", Mark replaces the line, "What's My Age Again?" with "Where's My Asian Friend", a reference to what the lyric was sometimes misheard to be. Tom echos Mark's "sodomy" (sodom-me) with "sodom-you".
- During some of the songs, you can distinctly hear more than one guitar playing.
- During "Going Away to College," Mark changes the line "You're so beautiful to me" to "You're so beautiful Skylee" in reference to his wife Skye Everly
- During "Carousel", Mark replaces the line "I guess it's just another" with "I had sex with your mother."
