Matarese Countdown is the sequel to the The Matarese Circle.
The Materese are rising from the ashes like the phoenix and are again trying to regain power. The new leader of the Matarese is an enigma with the name Jan van der Meer Matareisen. According to himself the only legitimate grandchild of Baron Guillaume de Matarese, the founder of the Matarese group. With the help of the shepherds son who seems to have survived the first encounter nearly twenty years ago they are planing a new diabolic plan to put the civilized world into chaos.
Only one man known as "Beowulf Agate", a CIA operative, can stop them, but he has been retired for nearly twenty years. Brandon Scofield is once again, put into the field, but this time the enemy is more dangerous.
