TV.com summary |
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an American animated television series made by The Walt Disney Company, and inspired by A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories. The series first aired from 1988 to 1991 on ABC. Reruns continued to air on ABC until Fall 2002 and then went on to air on Disney Channel. But on September 4, 2006, it left Disney Channel for good and its website and programming has disappeared. Also in November 2004, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was removed entirely from Toon Disney along with other popular Disney animated series. In the UK, the program continues to air daily on the Playhouse Disney lineup. This show returned to Toon Disney on January 15, 2007, and airs Monday through Friday normally at 11:30 am.
In addition to Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and Christopher Robin, there are also new characters that were not in Milne's stories, such as Gopher (who has appeared normally since The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), Christopher Robin's mother, Owl's cousin Dexter, Kessie the Bluebird, Junior Heffalump (and his parents), Skippy the Sheepdog, Stan Woozle & Heff Heffalump, and other characters.
One notable difference between the television series and the Pooh movies is that on the television program, Christopher Robin speaks with a distinctly American accent, it is the first time since the original version of Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree; in the films, he has an English accent.
This series is based on the movie titled The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which is based on the Winnie the Pooh books by A. A. Milne.
