The Newbeats
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Newbeats were a popular music vocal trio best known for their 1964 hit "Bread and Butter."
The group's members were Larry Henley (born 30 June 1941, in Arp, Texas, Texas); and the brothers Dean (born 17 March 1939, in Hahira, Georgia) and Mark Mathis (born 9 February 1942, in Hahira).
"Bread and Butter" was the group's first hit. Three more followed in 1964 and 1965:
- "Everything's Alright"
- "Break Away (From That Boy)"
- "Run Baby Run (Back Into My Arms)"
They had no further hits before disbanding in 1974. Henley is probably now best known as the songwriter of "Wind Beneath My Wings".
