The Pegasus is a seventh-season episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Additionally, the TNG-era events of the Star Trek: Enterprise series finale, "These Are the Voyages...", take place during the events of "The Pegasus".
The episode features one of William Riker's previous commanding officers, Rear Admiral Erik Pressman (played by Terry O'Quinn), who may know the location of the USS Pegasus (NCC-53847), a missing starship that they previously served aboard. The ship had been presumed destroyed, with Riker and Pressman among the few survivors. The Enterprise is sent to locate the starship and salvage it if possible, but the Romulans are also trying to find it. The crew discovers the Pegasus partially materialized inside an asteroid in the Devolin system. Rear Admiral Pressman, aboard the Enterprise and leading a mission to recover the ship, orders Commander Riker to keep secret the nature of the illegal cargo aboard the Pegasus. However, when Romulans trap the Enterprise inside the same asteroid, Riker breaks silence about the cloaking device so that the Enterprise can escape. Picard places both Riker and Pressman under arrest for violating the Treaty of Algeron. Although Pressman's fate is unknown, Riker shortly thereafter returns to duty.
