The Pride Of Swordsmen (Japanese: 剣士達の誇り, - Kenshitachi no hokori) is the seventeenth episode of the anime series D.Gray-man.

Seeing Victorio about to do a finishing blow to Kanda, Allen rushes forward and launches an attack on him. While he is distracting the gladiator, Lenalee and Pedro check on Kanda, who is still alive much to their relief. Meanwhile, Allen is struggling against Victorio who is able to cut his anti-Akuma weapon with ease. Watching the battle, the Finder explains to Lenalee that Victorio's sword contains the Innocence so she wonders why it is in the sword. Kanda says the reason is that Victorio is not compatible with it. Pedro adds that it is unknown how he obtains his weapon, but now the Innocence has taken over the gladiator, forcing him to fight stronger enemies. When Allen cannot move his left arm and gets cornered, Lenalee activates her Dark Boots and hurries to defend her friend. However, Victorio knocks her back and claims that he does not fight women. He is about to kill Allen off when Claudia suddenly appears and stops him. Before Allen can say anything, she informs the exorcists that she refuses to go home.

That night, the group stays in an old woman's house so they can rest and Kanda can recuperate. While Lenalee is tending Kanda's wound, she asks Pedro about Allen. The Finder assures her that he is fine; the reason that Allen's left arm did not move earlier was due to nerve paralysis. He then asks Lenalee to come to the living room because he has something to tell Allen and her. After Kanda battles Victorio the first time, he decides to do some investigation while the exorcist rested for two days. Pedro met the old woman who recites the story of Sandra again; he then mentions that Claudia's family built their house on top of where the princess's home. After listening to the story, the two exorcists conclude that Victorio believes that Claudia is Sandra which is why he reported to her after defeating the Akuma. Since the Akuma will always attack Victorio for the Innocence, Claudia's life will be endangered. Back in the Colosseum, Claudia dreams about happier times with her father and wakes up to see Victorio's preparing dinner.

Kanda regains consciousness and prepares to go out again with intention to fight Victorio since his wound healed. Allen stops him and says that he should think of a strategy instead. When Kanda protests, Allen uses his anti-Akuma weapon to shove him back to the bed. He and Lenalee then leave to make sure that Claudia is safe. In the Colosseum, Victorio is battling and defeating several Akuma including a Level 2. While Allen tries to convince him that Sandra died over 1000 years ago, Lenalee heads toward Claudia and attempts to persuade her to stop the gladiator. She refuses, saying that she was happy with him, but the exorcist claims that she will never be safe due to the Akuma's frequent attacks. Suddenly, Allen is about to get killed by Victorio, but Kanda comes in just in time to deflect the attack. He then challenges the gladiator again, and they charge at each other. Victorio delivers a blow to Kanda's shoulder, but Kanda slashes Victorio's arm, which causes him to lose his sword. As Victorio reminicises about the past, he recalls how he received the sword; however, Claudia's screams wake him up from his thoughts. A rapidly-aging Victorio tells her that he knew that she wasn't the princess, but he is still glad to serve her. In his dying breath, he encourages her to live her own life. Three days later, Claudia returns home to retrieve her belongings and leaves on a journey with an intention of living her own life.
