[edit] History
The Saturnine was formed in 2003 by drummer Dennis Leeflang (Bumblefoot, Sun Caged, Within Temptation, Epica) and guitarist Eric Hazebroek (Daeonia, Trisomy, Manifest). With several other seasoned Dutch musicians, The Saturnine recorded an EP, entitled "Within Without", in 2004, which received raving reviews in the music press. Despite the adjoining success, Leeflang left the band in late 2004, after his relocation from The Netherlands to New York City. Several band member changes withheld the band from regular shows and recording a full-length album, although The Saturnine did perform some important shows together with Swedish rock band Katatonia. When original drummer Leeflang heard of Hazebroek's plans to disband the group in 2006, he blew new life into the group by rejoining as a recording member, bringing with him vocalist Matty Pritchard (ex-The Din) from New York. Recordings of a new EP are scheduled for late 2006, and options for a full-length album and touring plans will be considered in 2007. Other current members include guitarist Danny Tunker (Fuelblooded) and bassist Douwe de Wilde (Daeonia).
