The Schnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Schnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show is an animated television series, created by Walt Disney Television, Games Animation and Savage Studios Ltd in 1995 as a spin-off of the show Raw Toonage. It was the first animated television series by Disney to not use a traditional "Disney" style. The program's style was considered evocative of John Kricfalusi's Ren & Stimpy animated series, and was roughly contemporaneous with it in its time of production.
The sequence mentioned in the title was about a cat named Schnookums and a dog named Meat who didn't get along very well. This series also included segments as Pith Possum: Superdynamic Possum of Tomorrow which features a super hero named Pith Possum and his sidekick Obediah the Wonder Raccoon, Tex Tinstar--a Cowboy who always gets into trouble, and a few other segments.
Schnookums and Meat was created and written by Bill Kopp, who also created Toonsylvania and Mad Jack the Pirate. He was the voice of Eek! the Cat and Yuckie Duck from The What-A-Cartoon! Show. Other voice actors on Schnookums and Meat included Jeff Glen Bennett (of Johnny Bravo fame, as the voice of Tex Tinstar) and Brad Garrett (from the television sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond).
Reruns of the show were aired on both Disney Channel and Toon Disney. The Tex Tinstar segments were shown out of order on the UK Disney Channel in 2003 to fill up the then frequently gapped schedule.
