The Shadowthrone is an album by the Norwegian black metal band Satyricon.
Considered a classic by fans of Black Metal, The Shadowthrone is also regarded by many as Satyricon's finest album. Like many Black Metal albums of the period, the songs revolve around either a theme of driving Christianity from Norway or aspects of Scandinavian mythology. At the time, the use of keyboards was not widespread in the genre, nor was the use of choirs, which are used to a great effect on Hvite Krists Død and Vikingland.
