The Silent Rumor
Image:Http://myspace-893.vo.llnwd.net/00566/39/81/566811893 l.jpg The Silent Rumor, or more widely known as TSR, are out for one purpose: to find a balance. Unlike many bands whose goal is to "hit it big," this group's soul purpose to make music that anyone can listen to and that they can enjoy playing together. Their sound is a melting pot of influences that include Nirvana, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Rolling Stones, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
TSR (all native to Chesapeake, VA) have been plugging into walls across Hampton Roads since 2002, beginning at first as a six-piece. Not satisfied with the lack of progress, they reformed in November 2004 as a four-piece group, performing their first show at a house party under the name, The Whom. The following month, they dropped the name and became The Silent Rumor. Since that time, they have shared the stage with numerous bands, among which some of their personal favorites are Another Day Awaits, Breakdance Kickboxer, Chained by Freedom, Homemade Knives, Monument, Stars Fell On, and Matt Walker. They've played such venues as The Epicenter, Volume CD Exchange, Relative Theory Records, The Norva, and Jolt180.
In May, 2006, The Silent Rumor made a welcome addition to their four-piece lineup by re-enlisting Dick Frailing (one of the original six members) to take over the duty of lead guitar. The first show with the new lineup coincided with the band's first all-acoustic gig on May 27 at Jolt180. This induction has proven to be a prosperous one as old TSR songs see new life with new arrangements and the long-overdue introduction of guitar solos.
TSR is currently working on a 9-track EP called "Generations," named after the EP's title-track. The EP will feature five electric tracks ("Ashamed of You," "Yourself," "Fade Away," "Run and Hide," and "Generations") as well as four acoustic versions ("Yourself," "Fade Away," "Run and Hide" and "Ashamed of You"). The inspiration of having both electric and acoustic versions of their songs on the EP came from when the group took on the challange of converting their songs into the all-acoustic set at Jolt180. The band plans to hit the studio this winter to begin the recording process.
