[edit] Geogre's ArbCom nomination
Hi Theo
I just wanted to say I think your condemnation of Geogre was a little harsh. I have always found him to be sincere and very helpful. I'm dissapointed you have not had similar experiences. Regards Giano 18:12, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Giano: You are absolutely right. I have added the appropriate plaudits to my comment. Thank you for pulling me up on that. —Theo (Talk) 18:30, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

- I made me a little sad to see the original comment too, but didn't want to pick open old wounds by saying so. I am a bit nonplussed by the opposition from so many people that I admire and respect - even some of them changing their minds - but there we are. I hate the person politics. -- ALoan (Talk) 18:55, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I guess that this is why I have stayed away from wikipolitics for the last year or so. I am really sorry to cause you any discomfort. —Theo (Talk) 19:16, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the response and the nice message on my talk page. I too have been trying to avoid the Wiki-politics as much as possible, and you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, of course (but thanks also for clarifying your position on the vote page). Fortunately, there are lots of articles to write. -- ALoan (Talk) 19:56, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A dilemma for you alone
Hi Theo
You are probably going to find this excruciatingly embarrassing (I'm wincing just mentioning it to you) but at the end of the day like halitosis it is better to know than not, and like the man whose wife is having an affair often those concerned are the last to know. Have you seen this Theo Clarke. If the subject seems familiar to you, you may either want to expand it to increase notability or, most likely, volunteer it for deletion. Things like this are one of the reasons I keep my surname quiet, there has been a small discussion on the subject here [1]. I'll leave it in your capable hands.
Regards and Merry Christmas Giano 14:02, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for drawing this to my attention. It is beyond me why anyone would consider me sufficiently remarkable to merit such an article. I have flagged it for speedy. I do not recognise the IP addresses used for the edits apart from the RSA... presumably part of a project by an employee or fellow of the society to identify other fellows. —Theo (Talk) 17:45, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

- Glad to have been of help. Rather like presiding over one's own execution I would immagine, never mind such is the price of notoriety. Giano 18:31, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

- Appreciative messages such as this are most warming. Thank you. —Theo (Talk) 10:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ash
Regarding the articles: Ash (near Taunton), and: Ash (near Yeovil), and: Ash (near Stourpaine), and: Ash (near Salway) - all of which you have edited, have you got any green idea about the origin of the name Ash?
Eliko 00:12, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Without research, so purely in my opinion, the name is most likely to be derived from the Ash tree, which probably grew locally. In some cases the placename may derive from a personal name. —Theo (Talk) 11:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Drake Hotel (Chicago) Urban Legend
Do you have a citation for this edit. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 02:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] English Local History
You included the phrase "contemporary pluralist synthesis of specialisms" in the article you started on English local history. I'm afraid I don't understand this. Is it possible add some explanation? Rjm at sleepers 09:51, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I have now substantialy re-writen the history of English local history. I hope you have some time to look at it and improve it by editing. Rjm at sleepers 10:58, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
