Thirty-Second Army (Japan)

The Japanese Thirty-Second Army of the Imperial Japanese Army was formed in April 1943 and was activated on 1 April 1944 for the defense of Okinawa. It was destroyed during the Battle of Okinawa in June 1945.

The 32nd Army had 77,000 men (39,000 infantry in 31 battalions and 38,000 artillery, armor and combat service troops) plus the 10,000 strong Okinawa Naval Base Force and 20,000 boeitai, laborers.

- Seven IJA Sea Raiding Battalions - formed to man suicide boats. Reformed into 600 man infantry battalions.
