[edit] Your edits to ITIS
Please stop redirecting ITIS to Integrated Taxonomic Information System. Thank you, DLandTALK 01:36, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
please stop changing my ITIS page to your -ITIS page.
- Redirects are supposed to go to the page of most common usage. The suffix that refers to inflammation is a much more commonly sought after topic than the ITIS is. --DLandTALK 03:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The ITIS web site gets over 1 Million hits per month - and many are re-directed from the ITIS search on Wikipedia. You probably don't realize that your redirect will have impact on this. By the way, why do you assume that you know what is the more "common" use of ITIS? -itis is NOT the same as ITIS.
- I'm willing to leave the redirects as they stand, until a different consensus is reached with the input of other users. However, you keep putting that "Please note, etc..." line at the beginning of the ITIS article, which is an unacceptable format for a Wikipedia article (See WP:LEAD). This is true regardless of how many less "hits" the website will lose as a result. --DLandTALK 04:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
DLand. I was just heading off to bed and thought that maybe a solution would be to point searches on ITIS to an intermediate page where the user could either go to -itis or ITIS? I've changed the redirect as a mock-up awaiting your thoughts. Also, I will change the ITIS site as you've suggested. Thanks.
- You're right - that's definitely the best solution. In fact, such a page already exists, in the form of Itis (disambiguation). Both Itis and ITIS now redirect there, and I think this issue is resolved (Whew!). Now that that's over, you deserve a formal welcome to Wikipedia, so here goes...

Dland, I simply disagree with you. A disambig should resolve the major uses of "ITIS", and should not be used for every occurrence of ITIS in culture! And PLEASE STOP removing information from the ITIS page. Many people don't realize the URL has changed and it effects MANY deeplinks thoughout the world!
- Look, I don't make up the rules. It happens that The Itis (Boondocks episode) is an article on Wikipedia, which means that it has passed Wikipedia's standards of notability. That being the case, it MUST be linked to on the disambig page. To remove it would be an act of vandalism. Regarding the notice you keep putting up, you should know that Wikipedia is not a web directory and it is not our place to necessarily be making such notices. It so happens that the notice IS there, right next to the link! I don't understand why you are not satisfied with this, but your additional notice is extremely out of place. I urge you to learn the rules - there are some convenient links in the form welcome that I gave you. Thanks, DLandTALK 07:00, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
