Tolbooth

Tolbooth or tollbooth may mean several things:
- Places for the collection of payment at toll roads or customs.
- Historical Scottish term for places where councils met (some of which contained prison cells underneath). Especially well-known among them are:
- "The Old Tolbooth" or "The Toolbooth Jail" in Edinburgh, with which some memorable episodes in the city's history are concerned. (See Porteous Riots, The Heart of Mid-Lothian).
- Stonehaven Tolbooth, a 16th century prison in Aberdeenshire, Scotland
- Tollbooth is also a character from the G.I. Joe universe.
