[edit] Personal life
Tommi started playing the guitar when he was 13 years old. He started to take lessons at that time, but soon after went on to follow his own musical intuition. He has mentioned that his infuences are John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Seal, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Romeo, etc.
[edit] Scenery Channel
Tommi co-founded Scenery Channel in January 1999 with bandmate Pasi Hiltula. They both shared the vision of a band that could incorporate different styles of music into one. The band spent many years touring around their hometown of Oulu, and recruiting new members at the same time. By 2000, they had recruited drummer Olli Jakola, and lead vocalist Mikko Lankinen to the band. Shortly after this, they were asked to play live at Tavastia Club in Helsinki, which marked the first time the band had performed outside of their hometown.
In 2001, the band released their EP, entitled Grey. Then in 2003, after a couple of years of turbulence, the band released a second EP, entitled Fallen Leaf. This marked the band's breakthrough. They released the EP online for free, and developed a small, but loyal underground fanbase.
Soon after that, the band recruited one more member to the band: bassist Nipa Lahdenperä. And six months after that, the band released yet another EP, this time entitled Dark to Light, which contained catchy songs, such as "Silence Like a Scream", and "Beacon". These songs were played on Finnish radio channels im spite of their non-mainstream nature.
In 2006, the band released their first full album, entitled Premiere.
[edit] Equipment
Tommi uses Ernie Ball/Music Man guitars, along with the Mesa/Boogie F50, and the TC Electronic.
