Thomas Clark Fisher Johnson (born 19 August 1900, Dalton-in-Furness, Lancashire; died 28 January 1973, Manchester) was a football player who played for Manchester City F.C. between 1919 and 1929. He could play as either a centre forward or an inside forward.
Johnson's professional football career began in 1919, when he was signed by Manchester City from amateur team Dalton Casuals following a recommendation from City defender Eli Fletcher.[1] Johnson holds the record for the most league goals by a Manchester City player with 158 (one more than Eric Brook, the team's all time leading goalscorer in all competitions). Johnson also holds the record for the largest number of league goals scored in a season for the club, scoring 38 goals in the 1928-29 season.
He made 354 appearances for Manchester City scoring 166 goals in the process. He also won 5 caps for England. In March 1930 he was sold to Everton F.C. for £6,000. He died in hospital in Manchester in 1973 at the age of 72.
