Are aboriginal communities classified as towns as well as indigenous communities? Fancyfootwork 07:36, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Towns and bounded localities are treated the same way. Assuming that the communities you have in mind are gazetted localities (i.e. they are listed in the Gazetteer of Australia [1]), then they should be treated as per towns. Hesperian 10:18, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- What if according to this website the community is classified as unbounded? Are unbounded localities registered in wiki the same way? Fancyfootwork 12:27, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- For unbounded localities we usually use the geographic convention. If the name doesn't conflict with some other article title, then just use [[Place name]]; if that conflicts with another article, then use [[Place name (Western Australia)]]. Want to tell me the name of the community? Hesperian 12:35, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- So if the gazetteer of australia lists a community as looma community or kadjina community and not simply looma or kadjina then the wiki article should reflect this?Fancyfootwork 11:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, Kadjina Community is its official gazetted name, so that should be the name of the article. Hesperian 11:49, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Why have all the towns in the towns of WA list used TownName, (Western Australia) convention even when they dont conflict?Fancyfootwork 11:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Because that is the convention that was adopted after extensive discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Australian places. I don't like it either. Hesperian 11:56, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
