Town & Country Food Stores
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Town & Country Food Stores is a chain of convenience stores based in San Angelo, Texas.
The company traces its history back to an earlier chain called Town & Country Food Stores which was begun in 1958 in Austin, Texas. That chain found itself in financial trouble due to overexpansion in the early 1960s, and in 1965, H.A. "Harold" Gibbs and district manager F.L. "Steve" Stephens purchased the then six San Angelo stores and one store located in Del Rio, Texas. As part of the purchase, the West Texas company acquired the Town & Country name.
The chain now has 140 convenience stores and 7 T&C Village Markets (supermarkets) across a large area of West Texas and New Mexico, and employs over 1,800 people.
