Transwa Australind

The Transwa Australind is a passenger train operated by Transwa that runs between Perth, Western Australia, and the south-west city of Bunbury on the South Western Railway (Western Australia). The Australind service consists of three powered railcars ADP101, ADP102 and ADP103, with two non-driving trailers ADQ121 and ADQ122.

The Australind service began in 1947 and was hauled by a steam locomotive. In the mid 1960s, diesel-electric locomotive power took over the route. The current self-powered diesel railcars were introduced in 1987. In July 2003 the railcars were painted in a new livery in line with the creation of the Transwa name.

A complete journey from Bunbury to the Perth Railway Station costs $23.90AUD for an adult and $11.95AUD for concession/child. The price is scaled down for only taking part of the trip. Return travel on the same day sees the return trip given at half-price.

Two round trips a day take place, the first leaves Bunbury at 6:00am , and the final trip leaves Perth at 5:55pm. The trip takes 2 hours and 30 minutes.
