Trends in Microbiology

Trends in Microbiology (ISSN 096-842X) is a monthly review journal that was launched in 1993 and is one of fourteen Trends titles in the life sciences published by Elsevier. The journal is aimed at academic, industrial and applied scientists and students, and highlights the latest exciting developments in a wide range of microbiology subjects including bacteriology, mycology, protozoology and virology, enabling readers of every level to stay informed of hot topics.
The magazine format of the journal – short articles on topical advances – comprises four main article types: Research Focus articles, which provide succinct summaries of recent developments; mini-review style Reviews; Opinion articles, which have greater scope for hypothesis and personal perspective; and the Genome Analysis section, which features original observations on the function, organization and evolution of microbial genomes. All articles are written in an accessible style by leading researchers, and aim to cover advances in understanding and emerging themes within microbiology.
