NOTE: deaths listed include being killed in action and/or of other causes such as dying of disease, atrocities etc.

- 28,000 to 30,000 killed in action
- ~30,000 died of other causes, mainly diseases
- ~60,000 total dead and/or missing

- ~12,000 died of other causes, mainly diseases
- 30,000 to 35,000 total dead and/or missing
(These numbers included soldiers and civilians killed and missing in internal strife and civil war between those who opposed war and those who favour it.
