Tripp NYC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tripp NYC is an American clothier making both high-concept couture pieces and budget-conscious pret-a-porter for volume retailers. Identified primarily with ravers in the mid to late 1990s, it has been adopted by the New Punk movement of the early 21st century, and is a utilitarian standby wardrobe for some goths. Their products can be found at American retailers Hot Topic and Synth-Tec; other retailers and resellers can be found on their webpage: TrippNYC
[edit] Product Description
Tripp clothing is uniform from season to season in its vision, like many house lines. The Tripp signature flourishes of buckles, heavy stretch material and omnipresence of bondage straps has definitely found a market niche. Tripp can always be relied on to carry drum majorette-style jackets, flared pants with extraneous zippers and straps, and detailed pockets, belt loops and other design elements tightened with laces and referred to as "corset"-style.
Tripp's clothing line for Hot Topic is of a much lower quality and grade than their couture products, and this leads to some confusion amongst shoppers not willing to pay the higher prices for the well-made pieces. As with alternative-clothing megaline Lip Service's line for the store, Hot Topic's sheer volume purchasing power allows it to commission low-end lines that ape their current couture products at a much-reduced price.
Tripp's trademark is a solid cardstock red label attached with a small safety pin.
