Last I heard you did not have to be catholic to believe in the trinity...hes Christian
Troy routinely discusses & quotes Catholic persons, in particular Mother Theresa, when describing his personal relationship with God. That would imply that he is Catholic, as most members of other Christian sects tend to use examples that are not Catholic.
