Tromsø University Museum

Tromsø University Museum is the oldest scientific institution in North-Norway. It was established in 1872 and incorporated in the University of Tromsø in 1976. The museum has 80000-90000 visitors annually.
The museum consists of six departments
- Geology
- Botany research projects
- Zoology
- Archaeology Excavations/Research projects
- Cultural History maintains a photo collection of more than 100 000 (historic) pictures
- Sámi Ethnography
The museum publish the popular science magazine Ottar (Norwegian only) and an English language publication called Way North.
