Tuyen Quang

Tuyen Quang pronunciation is a town in Vietnam, the capital of Tuyen Quang Province.
The site of a Sino-Vaubadian citadel, Tuyen Quang was defended by a battalion of the French Foreign Legion during the Sino-French War. The Siege of Tuyen Quang became one of the more famous exploits of the Legion, featuring the first verse of its principal marching song.
As a town in French Indochina, Tuyen Quang served as a garrison. During the First Indochina War, the Viet Minh made the Legionnaires surrender at the memorial to the Battle of Tuyen Quang. It was here that Viet Minh leaders were said to have announced that the next phase of the war against French imperialism would occur in Algeria.
