[edit] Current Interests
tzf is a video engineeer in San Francisco, California, USA (but actually I live in Alameda.)
<false_modesty>I've recently read a lot about Microwave transmission, VSB and QAM modulation, and related issues, so I've created a Wiki account to share what little I am capable of learning, </false_modesty>. Thank you for Wiki-ing!
More recently I've read a lot about MPEG-4 and podcasting. Now I'm reading The MXF Book by Bruce Devlin (but not that Bruce Devlin), Jim Wilkinson (but neither of those Jim Wilkinsons), et al.
[edit] Employment
I am employed by UCSF as Senior Television Engineer, but I usually refer to myself as an audio-visual systems integration specialist.
[edit] Music
I used to consider myself a musician, composer, recording engineer and producer. I studied guitar with Chris Diurni, bass guitar with John Bush (but not that John Bush), and composition and rhythm with Kimara Sajn. I produced several of my own cassette tapes, demo tapes for The Hip Hop Giants and Pollen, and a music video for Pollen. I worked closely with San Francisco musician & producer Ceddrick Jonae. <irony> My greatest commercial success was my coproduction, with Jonathan, of Jonathan Segel's album Jack & Jill:Chill And Shrill, which has probably sold well in excess of 100 copies worldwide </irony>. I sold all my recording equipment and most of my instruments when I decided to focus my time on my professional career in video in about 1995. Since then I have only played bass guitar with the psychoblasters, my Improvisational Avant-Noise Jam_band from Mendocino.
I am an avid eclectic music fan, so you'll see some of my edits on the Wikipedia pages of some of those I like but whose pages can benefit from my feeble efforts, such as Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Idiot Flesh, and Jonathan Segel. I recently created the Kimara Sajn Wikipedia article and today added talk page to it explaining my motivations to other Wikipedia editors <insolence> who seem to think they know something </insolence>.
[edit] Aspirations
...But I would rather divide my time between the South_Pacific, swimming and snorkeling; and the Rocky Mountains, snowboarding. Maybe some day I'll win the Lottery.

[edit] User CSS Frustration
Please point me to the page that has a clear concise explanation of how to create "user CSS"; I followed some instructions and created a subpage (despite other pages that say not to create subpages) or maybe I failed to create a subpage (how to tell? looks just like any other page!) but at any rate what I done did is here: /CSS
