- IMHO and from experience online dictionaries, particularly of unstandardized languages such as Tagalog, aren’t as reliable as print dictionaries are. The UPDF itself spells the word as motto, while Rubino’s 2002 dictionary (the only other Tagalog dictionary from this century) doesn’t even contain the entry in its Tagalog-English section, listing instead ‘sawikain’ as the translation for ‘motto’. (Perhaps we should instead use that as the title for this article since it registers more easily in the Filipino brain.) Moreover, not all Filipinos are not alien to pronouncing two consecutive identical consonants. —Život 18:51, September 9, 2005 (UTC)
