Is it worth deleting this as its over a month old? Jt spratt 17:55, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- IMHO this portal has been left behind. I even believe its been inadvertently rename,as currently it makes you think about the historic concept of "BR", rather than "rail transport in GB"... Pickle 18:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

- I agree this should be renamed and made the responsibility of WikiProject UK Railways. Jt spratt 08:11, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

- So do I as that project is exactly what this portal is all about and it states in things to do start a project for this portal. Unisouth 10:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tool for Education or American propaganda
Is Wikipedia a resource for education and carrying FACTS or a tool for American propaganda? I have edited out reticules claims by Americans in the Land speed record for railed vehicles and Empire State Express only to have arrogant Americans delete them and accuse me of pov can we have a neutral observer look at these sections Oxyman 02:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Appearance
Good evening (GMT time) my fellow Wikipedians; I'd like to request all assistance that is available on a revamp of our Portal. The page, whilst with decent content, has a rather out of date and ugly appearance.
I propose a change in colour scheme, with a change to a lighter green scheme. The current navy blue scheme is rather heavy on the eye, and doesn't suit the page at all.
I've got plenty experience with revamps, having just single-handedly began the revamp of WP:WELCOME, before receiving the assistance of a very talented Wikipedian, The Transhumanist to wrap up a now up-to-date and pleasing-on-the-eye resource for our new users.
The existing content should largely be kept, especially the introduction; however, the red-linked DYK sections, and over-large selected picture section would be receiving particular focus.
Any assistance in the project would be appreciated gladly - a Wiki is about collaboration between our editors.
Kind regards,

[edit] Portal Peer Review
[edit] UK Railways
The portal has been slightly neglected of late, and had slipped into disrepair. I've done a quick patch-up, with a brighter colour scheme, but I'd like some wider contribution from the folks here at PPR. I'm particularly interested in any sections of the Portal that should not be included, as well as any new sections that should be added.
Kind regards,

Hey, well let's get started:
- The browse at the top should link Portal:Trains then list your portal as a sub of that.
- The intro should bold link the main article Rail transport in Great Britain at the beginning such as all articles. Seems to be very lacking in other linkage.
- Related portals - should be symmetrical
- Pic - Should have credits, no caption, instead a description layed out underneath. Please see any featured portal.
- Wikiprojects - Since you only have one, I recommend adding parent projects such as train and transport.
- DYK - Layout should resemble Template:Did you know, mainly with the additions of links and bolding the main article intended.
- Cats - Start with Category:Rail transport in Great Britain and fill out from there, the box as of now seems really paltry.
- Things you can do - Remove the {{Portal|UK Railways}}.
- Include {{WikimediaForPortals}}
- Add a major topics section
- Add lists under any appropriate section
Once those major things are done, we can take a closer look at it. Good luck :) Joe I 07:43, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

- That's exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks for your contributions :) Regards, anthonycfc [talk] 13:55, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
