Ultima Iris is an open source 3D game client developed around the popular computer role playing game Ultima Online distributed under the GNU General Public License v.2. It is based on the OpenGL graphics system, which was originally named IrisGL.
Ultima Iris adds a third dimension to the well-known Ultima Online World. Iris allows the player to navigate the gaming environment just like any modern 3d rpg and still retain the unique roleplaying experience that only classic Ultima can provide. Moreover, being compatible with standard UO game servers, the player is not limited to play with only users of Iris but may also seamlessly interact with players using standard 2d clients.
