Ultra Records is an American independent electronic music record label. They were formed in New York City in 1995 by Patrick Moxey, who is still currently the owner. They have featured releases from many artists such as The Crystal Method, Timo Maas, Sasha & John Digweed, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, and Junkie XL. They are well known for rereleasing import CD's, most notably from United Kingdom's famous Ministry of Sound and stamping their logo on the back for a United States release[citation needed]. Ultra Records tends to release more singles than whole CDs, and most of these singles they release are directly from a Ministry of Sound series[citation needed].
On 24 July 2006, Ultra Records signed a pact to join the Alternative Distribution Alliance's family and will start distributing the records in September 2006. Warner Media Group released a statement stating that Ultra Records would be partnering with Rhino Records for remix packages of Warner Media Group artists. [1] With this new deal they will be releasing CD's by Tiesto and Kaskade.
