ULTRASONE AG (spelled with all capitals) is a German company specializing in headphones for studio, DJ, and consumer uses.
[edit] Overview
ULTRASONE was founded in 1991 with the stated objective to manufacture advanced headphones with an emphasis on the professional audio sector. A feature of all ULTRASONE headphones is the proprietary S-LogicTM technology marketed as a surround-sound simulacrum. The process uses decentralized transducer positioning to spread sound over the outer ear in an attempt to mimic sound heard over speakers.
ULTRASONE claims to be the only headphone company to address the issues of hearing damage and head fatigue with their "health-conscious" technologies. Specifically, ULTRASONE says it focuses on fatigue due to the exposure to electromagnetic emissions that certain headphones may cause when worn over a prolonged period of time. Since 1999 the company makes headphones that, purportedly, help reduce the risk of hearing damage through the use of more efficient transducers and earcups shielded to reduce electromagnetic radiation (designated as LE/ULE — Low/UltraLow Emission).
ULTRASONE's headquarters are located in Tutzing, Bavaria, Germany. The company has manufacturing facilities in Germany, the USA, Austria, and Taiwan.
