Unionport Yard

Unionport Yard is strictly a layup facility serving the IRT 5 line primarily, but also the IRT 2 line. It is associated with nearby East 180th Street Yard. There are no shop or wash facilities at Unionport, which was expanded during the 1990's from five tracks to its present 19. All but one track ends in bumper block. The newly-expanded yard was fully operational in 1997. East 180th Street cars are identified by a black stripe.
