[edit] History
The US Davis Cup Team won the very first Davis Cup title in 1900. Their most recent win was in 1995, defeating Russia in the final. They finished as runners-up to Spain in 2004.
United States played in the World Group in all but one year since it was created in 1981, sharing this record with Australia, Sweden and Czech Republic, and hold the record for ongoing consecutive years in the World Group at 19 as of 2007 (by winning the first round tie against Czech Republic it ensured the streak will extend to 20 years in 2008).
