United States House election, 1922
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The U.S. House election, 1922 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1922 which occurred in the middle of President Warren G. Harding's term.
Although the economy was strong, a split between conservatives and progressives in Harding's Republican Party cost them votes, and they lost a net of 77 seats to the opposition Democratic Party. They nonetheless retained a narrow majority, although splits in the party made it difficult for Harding to govern. In Minnesota, the Farmer-Labor Party, an offshoot of populism, also gained several seats.
