[edit] Library
Perpustakaan Sultanah Zanariah (PSZ) occupies a central location at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) main campus in Skudai and has a branch at Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant (UTM Skudai) and UTM City Campus Kuala Lumpur. It was officially opened on the 3rd of February 1991, by Her Majesty Sultanah Zanariah, the Chancellor of University Teknologi Malaysia.
The library is a four-storey building with a seating capacity of 3,422 and a collection of nearly half a million volumes. PSZ is headed by the Chief Librarian, Kamariah Nor Mohd Desa and has a total of 173 staff.
To reflect the focus of the university on technical studies, the material in the library consists mostly of science and technology references. As PSZ has an impressive collection in these fields, its facilities are frequently used by the local Malaysian and Singaporean academia. The library is currently building up its social sciences and humanities collection.
Library automation started in 1986 and to date most of the library operations and services are handled by the Computerized Library Integrated System known as INFOLAN2. Information is accessed through the Online Public Access Catalogue at PCs located in the library building or via networking.
