University of New York
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is no institution of higher education in the State of New York or the United States of America that bears the name University of New York. However, in confusion, it is possible that such a reference may regard the following:
- New York University, a private institution founded in New York City in 1831.
- State University of New York, New York's multi-campus public university system, organized in 1948.
- City University of New York, a multi-campus public university system in New York City, created in 1964 from the City College of New York and other public, New York City government-supported colleges and graduate centers.
Also of note, is that the University of New York was a fictional university used in the American television series Felicity (1998 – 2002), which set in New York City, was modelled on New York University.
