University of Nova Gorica - UNG (Slovenian Univerza v Novi Gorici), is the fourth university in Slovenia. It is located in Nova Gorica and Ajdovščina.

The University of Nova Gorica grew out of the School of Environmental Sciences founded in 1995 by the Municipality of Nova Gorica and the Jožef Stefan Institute. Later two more institutions joined is as the founders: ZRC SAZU and the Municipality of Ajdovščina. In March 2006 the former Nova Gorica Politechnic eas renamed the University of Nova Gorica. Today the University has 6 schools and 7 research institutes.
