030903-N-2143T-001 Central Command Area of Responsibility (Sept. 3, 2003) -- Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman John Watkins of Portland, Ore., uses a magnifying glass to check for defects on bearings used for aircraft tires aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Strike Group and Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) are deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
