[edit] Outline of Great Lakes
Should the outline of the Great Lakes be darkened, as it is in the current version? It makes it look like Lake Michigan is outside the boundaries of the U.S. Does this follow a Wikipedia mapping project standard? — Eoghanacht talk 14:59, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- I simply built this map from Image:Map_of_USA_with_state_names.svg, and I just don't know how the international line runs through/around those water bodies. I can change it, if you know how the boundaries should look. Thanks, —Papayoung ☯ 23:52, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Try a low-res image at CIA World Fact Book or, more detailed National Atlas. — Eoghanacht talk 15:18, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Blank image?
I couldn't help but notice that the map has gone blank, with tragic consequences to a lot of articles. Rmwarnick 06:06, 28 February 2006 (UTC) OK, it's better now. Thanks. Rmwarnick 21:11, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Missing location
This image is missing Puerto Rico, which contains the Caribbean National Forest. It would be great if it could be added. Joelito 13:51, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- There are many protected areas in the various insular areas of the U.S., but I think that would make the map too unworkable. The U.S. map does not have to work everywhere (see American Memorial Park) -- although it is nice to have a map that graphically says "U.S." to a reader for areas protected by the U.S. federal gov't. I used a Puerto Rico specific map for San Juan National Historic Site, but if someone can recommend a general Caribbean map, I think it would work better for the various sites in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. — Eoghanacht talk 17:44, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't have Puerto Rico, but the one used here is decent for the Virgin Islands. See:Buck Island Reef National Monument
- This one can be used for Puerto Rico.[1]--MONGO 19:54, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
