Her Majesty's Prison Usk and Prescoed

The prison is located in the picture postcard town of Usk in Monmouthshire, South Wales.It is of Victorian design consisting of three main wings. Usk prison is unusual in that the establishment only holds vulnerable prisoners and sex offenders. Usk prison can hold 250 male inmates. The learning and Skills dept provide both academic and vocational courses. there is also a charity workshop providing money for local charitable causes.Much of the work of the prison is centred around the prisoners addressing their offending behaviour, through specialised sex offender treatment programmes.

Its sister prison is called Prescoed and this is an open prison approximately three miles from Usk with capacity for 170 prisoners. this facilities main purpose is to re-introduce prisoners back into society through a dedicated resettlement team and the provision of work in the community.
