[edit] Route description
U-32 begins running north from the US-40/189 junction. It curves west to run along the southern edge of the Jordanelle Reservoir and provide access to Jordanelle State Park. It continues west to cross into Summit County and meet the western terminus of U-35 in Francis.
In Francis, it turns more northerly and crosses U-150 near Kamas. U-32 runs through Marion and runs parallel to the Weber River between Oakley and Peoa. The route then travels along the western side of Rockport Lake and the Rockport State Park before ending at I-80.
[edit] History
U-32 was originally constructed as part of US-189. In 1947, US-189 was moved onto a concurrency with US-40; the old routing became US-189 ALT. However, UDOT reverted this change when I-80 was built. In 1990, the Jordanelle Reservoir dam was constructed, which led UDOT to truncate US-189 to Heber City. (However, Utah did not bring up the change with Wyoming, so US-189 still extends into that state).[1] The present U-32 was commissioned for old US-189 on 1990-10-05, and the route has not been changed since then.[2]
