Valerie Page

Valerie Page is a fictional character from V for Vendetta. In the 2006 film, she is played by Natasha Wightman.
Valerie’s back-story is almost the same in the film and graphic novel, although dates are different. Also, her story comes more to the fore in the film.
In the book, Valerie Page was born in Nottingham in 1957 (1985 in the film). While at a single-sex grammar school, she had her first girlfriend, Sarah. The couple was told by their teacher that homosexuality is "an adolescent phase that people outgrow". Valerie does not and comes out to her parents in 1976 (film- 2002); she is told to leave and never come back.
In 1985 (film- 2015), Valerie stars in her first film, The Salt Flats. While filming, she meets a woman named Ruth, and the two become lovers. However, over the three years of their relationship, the United States' military campaigns in the Middle East spiral out of control and chaos erupts in England, eventually creating a worldwide state of chaos that the fascist Norsefire government uses to seize power. Once in control, the government makes homosexuality a crime punishable by execution.
Ruth is taken by the new secret police while buying food. Shortly afterwards, Valerie is sent to Larkhill Detention Center. Over the course of her imprisonment there, Dr. Delia Surridge and Commander Lewis Prothero use her among dozens as test subjects for a powerful new bioweapon. Using a smuggled pencil bit and a dried out roll of toilet paper, Valerie writes her autobiography and then passes it to the occupant in the cell next to hers, Room V. Valerie dies shortly afterwards and her body is thrown into a mass grave with the other prisoners who died from the experiments. The occupant of cell V, inspired and outraged, eventually destroys the camp and escapes, vowing to take down the government and avenge Valerie.
When Fingermen raid Gordon Deitrich's home, the former prisoner (now calling himself "V") "rescues" Evey Hammond under the guise of a member of the Fingermen squad. V then subjects Evey to a recreation of the Larkhill Detention Camp. During this "captivity", he gives her Valerie's letter, which Evey finds to be her only solace. After the captivity is revealed to have been a hoax, V shows Evey a shrine he made for Valerie.
At the end of the film, Valerie is seen with Ruth taking off their Guy Fawkes masks in the crowd watching as Parliament explodes. This was included to symbolize V's embodiment of the English people.
