[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

A woman watches from a window as a train arriving at the village below. She is joined by a man who asks her if something is wrong. His companion replies that she is worried that someone on that train will try to separate them, but he assures her that will never happened and embraces her. Reassured, she wishes that they will be together for eternity; the man then bares his teeth and reaches for neck. At the train station, Allen enters the village and recalls the reason why he is there. Apparently his master, General Cross, has been missing for awhile. Because of the lack of communication, Komui has requested that Allen looks for him. As he enters the village, he sees a street vendor and introduces himself. However, the man notices the Rose Cross emblem on his uniform and runs off, leaving a bewildered Allen behind. Before the exorcist knows it, the man returns with a mob holding pitchforks and other garden supplies. They surround him and drag him away in spite of his protests.

Allen then finds himself tied to a chair. The vendor introduces himself as Georg, the mayor of the city, and explains their situation. He explains that the village is beseiged...by a vampire. A doubtful Allen listens on as the mayor continues. In a castle nearby the village lives a Baron named Arystar Krory. From the beginning, they would ignore each other, but then it happened. One evening, the villagers heard a loud scream and went to investigate. They saw the baron sucking all of the blood out from an old woman who lived in the village. Since then, they have lived in terror. After he finished his story, Georg and the villagers beg for Allen's help and call him a "savior" who was sent to the village to exterminate the vampire. Allen, however, denies that claim and says that he is there to find a certain someone. Freeing himself easily from the ropes, he opens his suitcase and shows them a picture of Cross. The mayor immediately recognizes him. Apparently, Cross was in the village to visit Krory, but the villagers tried to warn him about the danger. Allen's master just laughed and continued on his way. After three days, everyone thought he was dead but was suprised to see him walking back to the train station. Before he left, he told Georg that if the owner of the castle caused any trouble, a person with the same insignia as his will come to fix the problem.

The mayor then announces that the prophecy has come true and immediately exclaims that Allen must help them. Seeing that they would not take "no" for an answer, Allen agreed reluctantly. No one noticed that a person was spying behind the door. That night, Georg shows Allen his room and says that the latter should rest for the night. They will go tomorrow's night to confront Krory. After letting Timcanpy out and settling down into his room, Allen wonders out loud what his master is planning and blows out the candle to go to bed. Later, the spy from earlier comes into the room, transforms into a Level One Akuma, and shoots the bed with its bullets. The Akuma throws off the blanket and is suprised to see that he just shot a rolled-up blanket. Allen suddenly appears in the room and explains that he notices the Akuma watching outside his window due to his left eye. He easily defeats it, but he is soon surrounded by a group of Akuma. The exorcist runs into the hallway to get more space to fight, but he encounters a Level Two Akuma, who immediately shoots some poisonous bubbles. Allen attempts to dodge them, but one of them hits his left eye.

Due to the excruciating pain, Allen is not able to fight and about to get killed when a hammer appears from the window slamming the Level One Akuma into a wall - Lavi and Bookman have arrived much to Allen's relief. However, the Level One Akuma start to bombard them with their bullets in order to escape. Allen, Lavi, and Bookman chase after them, but the old man notices that the innkeeper is stuck in the pile of rubbles so they have to help him. The next morning, Georg is thrilled to find two more "black monks" have arrived to aid them in their quest. He is also impressed that they kill the Akuma and because of that, he believes that they can kill Krory. After the satisfied villagers leave, Bookman inspects Allen's left eye and notes that the moisture around the area is gone. Despite his diagnosis, he believes that the boy's eye will regenerate like last time.

Having said this, he orders Lavi to accompany Allen since he believes Cross has a good reason for them to be there and the Akuma's attack is very suspicious. When Lavi complains and calls Bookman, "Old Panda," the latter punishes him while an amused Allen watches. That night, Allen and Lavi travel with a mob of villagers armed with their weapons. On the way there, the Bookman's apprentice warns Allen to be careful not to get bitten by the vampire, but Allen tells him that he knows what will happen. They glance back to see the ridiculus sight of Georg wearing every known vampire protections on him. Aware that they are looking at him, he asks them if something is the matter, but they deny anything is wrong. Continuing their conversation, Lavi believes that the "vampire" is actually an Akuma, but Allen points out that no Akuma drinks blood. The latter then remembers to ask Lavi why he and Bookman are in town? Before Lavi can answer, the mayor orders them to stop.

They have arrived at the entrance to Krory's castle. Georg explains that inside the gate are demonic statues, which Allen views as "bad taste," and the baron's home. Even though the two exorcists hear a noise, they open the gate and enter the property. Creeped out by the noise and the garden's Gothic decorations, Allen takes off his left glove with preparation to attack, which causes him to get teased by Lavi. However, he points out that Lavi has been holding his weapon the entire time, but the latter claims that he is not scared at all. Their conversation is interrupted when they hear something approaching. Even though the exorcists position themselves to defend the villagers, something runs past by them. They have no clue what happened, but suddenly they hear a scream. Running to the back of the mob, Allen and Lavi see a person drinking one of the villagers' blood, and Georg exclaims that it is Arystar Krory! Upon seeing the sight, Allen and Lavi begin to wonder if they are actually fighting against a real vampire.
