"Vengeance" is an episode from Season 3 of the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis..
[edit] Plot
Dr. Weir reports that the Taranians haven't contacted Atlantis in over two months. Sheppard's team is sent to look for them. On the planet they discover it appears as though the whole settlement has been abandoned.
Detecting a life sign below them, the team searches an underground complex made by the people who lived there before the Taranians. There they are faced with a large creature which has similarities with the Iratus bug, and many dead Taranians.
Dr. Weir sends them a marine contingent to help them deal with the creature, but soon after they arrive they are abducted by a Wraith dart.
After Sheppard's team finds little luck with destroying the creature and realizes they've lost contact with the marines, they try to return to Atlantis, only to find that the control crystals have been removed, disabling the gate. Returning to the complex they discover that Michael, after being rejected by the Wraith began experimenting with the bug and created these creatures to take over the galaxy. They soon discover that he has hundreds of those creatures on that planet and this is not the only planet he is breeding them.
Unable to find the control crystals and with the creatures on their tail, they quickly find Michael's Wraith dart. Sheppard is able to fly it and then beam Ronan, Teyla, and McKay on it and then use its DHD to dial out.
They redirect Daedalus to go and nuke the planet but when they reach there they find that the whole place is wiped clean with no sign of Michael or the creatures.
[edit] Trivia
- Rodney is wearing a yellow belt at the start of his martial arts training with Ronon. In many forms of Martial Art, yellow is the lowest level of skill.
- The Taranians were previously seen in "Inferno" where they were a group of people from all over the Pegasus galaxy hiding inside an Ancient drydock. After they fled the volcano on their planet, the Atlantis team relocated them.
- Colonel Sheppard mentions that the Taranians weren't happy with the loss of the Orion.
- Colonel Sheppard references the movie Alien during a scene with a creature that somewhat resembles those in the Alien series.
- Rodney, a Canadian character, makes reference to the Canadian fitness program ParticipACTION. He mentions he received a Bronze award, and claims it was due to his inept nature at rope climbing that he did not receive a Silver instead
- This episode featured the return of Michael, who was believed to be dead after the planet he was left on was destroyed by Sheppard (in the episode Misbegotten), but it is not known what information he could have given up about Atlantis.
[edit] Quotes
- (Sheppard and Ronon Spot the Wraith dart)
Ronon: "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
Sheppard: "Yeah, I fly the dart, beam you all up, and then I use its DHD to dial Atlantis and get out of here…"
Ronon: "I was thinking of blowing it up, but your plan sounds better. Get moving!" - Teyla: "What is that?"
Ronon: "Looks like a piece of an arm."
Sheppard: "Lets hope that slows it down."
McKay: "Maybe it'll bleed to death."
Ronon: "Or just grow another arm."
