[edit] Fictional character biography
Her mutant powers manifested during a spat with her family when she was a little girl; the explosion completely destroyed her grandmother's home, and Venus grew up believing that she had killed her entire family. Venus struggled with manic-depression and made numerous suicide attempts, but finally attempted to join X-Force so that she could redeem herself.
Following the death of X-Force members and a change of the superteam's name to X-Statix, Venus Dee Milo was considered as a possible replacement for the recently deceased U-Go Girl. The Orphan initially rejected her as he was still in a state of mourning for U-Go Girl and also thought she was too pure to be a part of X-Statix; he changed his mind, however, when Venus took him to the site of her family's death and explained her past to him[1].
Alongside the group, Venus confronts Bad Guy & her fear of her cousin, Jamal[2]. Meanwhile, Venus and The Orphan begin dating and fell in love[3]. During some down time she then treats herself to a shopping spree[4]. Professor X completed work on a second containment suit specifically designed so that she could take part in sexual intercourse. When Venus and Guy began to make love for the first time, Venus spontaneously transported both of them into another dimension. There, Venus was overjoyed to find her family alive and well; they were happy to see her also, and had been peacefully living in a place they mistook for heaven.
Despite this happy revelation, all was not well for Venus. Guy's lingering feelings for his first love, U-Go Girl, often put a strain on their relationship, and Venus felt that she was in another woman's shadow. Venus resented U-Go Girl until she stumbled upon the secret diaries[5] that had belonged to her late romantic "rival"; after reading about the circumstances of Edie's life, Venus became sympathetic to Edie and put her jealousy aside. Becoming more confident Venus helped Dead Girl get revenge on the guy that killed her[6], helped Henrietta Hunter[7], was one of the few who welcomed Vivisector back to the team[8] and fought alongside her team with when they battled the Avengers[9].
Venus and Guy remained a couple until they were both killed in the teams final mission. Her molecules were permanently scattered after she tried to teleport several attacking helicopters away from her teammates[10].
[edit] Powers and abilities
Venus is a being made of pure energy, and without a special containment suit designed by Professor X, she would not even have a physical form. She uses her energy to teleport with pin-point accuracy, and she can also use it as a weapon or a healing aid.
[edit] Trivia
- Venus Dee Milo's name is a pun on the ancient Greek statue known as the Venus De Milo. The statue is recognizable due to the fact that it has been damaged and is missing both arms; Venus Dee Milo's costume is designed to reveal that she has no visible arms.
