"In response to these criticisms, co-founder Gavin McInnes published an article attacking liberals in The American Conservative entitled "Hip to Be Square: It’s getting cooler to be conservative" in August 2003. McInnes later said the article was written as a joke."

- I've removed the line "McInnes later said this article was written as a joke" because I can't find a quote verifying this. If there is some proof, I'd like to see it. As far as I'm concerned, he was 100% serious about being a conservative.
